Our new website is now live.
We’re delighted to announce that our brand new website is now open to the public.
Our mission is to offer free and friendly support to people in our community going through a hard time.
Founded in 2020, The Leslie Community Pantry provides food and essentials to those experiencing financial difficulties.
When tough times come, there’s no shame in asking for support. The Leslie Community Pantry offers food, toiletries, and other essentials to members of our community completely free of charge.
Our team consists entirely of volunteers of the local community and we pride ourselves on the friendly, committed service we provide to the residents of Leslie. We source all of our stock from local businesses and from the kind donations provided by members of the local community, and we are open to the public from Monday to Friday every week from our base at the Quarry Park Sports Pavillion.
Local people helping local people.
We’re never failed to be amazed by what can happen when communities come together with a common purpose.
The Leslie Community Pantry was founded in April 2020 by Gayle Wilson, at a time when the world came grinding to a halt due to the covid-19 pandemic. The resulting disruption left many locals without an income, whilst the bills and debts kept piling on.
We started with a simple table in The Station Hotel’s beer garden, offering food and other essentials free of charge. The hotel kindly allowed the pantry to make use of their premises for six months before we moved to the Quarry Park Sports Pavilion in October 2020.
Fast forward a year, and we are a strong team of ten volunteers providing this much-needed service to our community. We’ve gone from strength to strength and have formed some fantastic relationships with so many organisations that support our community in one way or another; ranging from local shops to large supermarket chains.
We are incredibly grateful to the people and businesses within Leslie for their incredible support. None of this would have been possible without you.
