Our new website is now live.

We’re delighted to announce that our brand new website is now open to the public.

On the 25th May 2021, The Leslie Community Pantry’s website became available for members of the public. The website’s aim is to raise awareness of our work, help us recruit new volunteers, and to encourage more people to donate to the pantry so that we can continue to improve the services we offer.

This website was proudly donated by A Wild Haggis Ltd; a website design and cybersecurity agency based in Glasgow. Kieran Aitken, AWH’s managing director, said that they were “delighted to support such an important cause and a fantastic team of positive, committed volunteers who are making a difference to people in the local community”.

Leslie Community Pantry was founded in April 2020 by Gayle Wilson, at a time when the world came grinding to a halt due to the covid-19 pandemic. The local community came together to support each other during this time of need, and the Leslie Community Pantry, which started off as a table offering free food, has grown into a charity that has distributed over 4,000 food parcels.

The pantry began operating from the beer garden of The Station Hotel, Leslie who kindly allowed the Pantry to make use of their premise for around six months, since October 2020 we have been based at Quarry Park Sports Pavilion at the Back Braes in Leslie.

Fast forward a year, and we are a strong team of ten volunteers providing this much-needed service to our Community. We are going from strength to strength and we have formed some fantastic relationships with so many organisations that support our community.

We strongly believe that there will be a continued need for food provisions for many years to come in the aftermath of Covid-19, food will also be the main focus for Leslie Community Pantry, however, we also have many other fantastic ideas to help rebuild our community, reducing social isolation and improving the wellbeing of everyone who lives here.

Gayle, the director of Leslie Community Pantry, has thanked everyone in Leslie for their support and said that “we couldn’t have done it without you”. Adding that “we would be delighted if you would join us on our journey, and if you would like to get involved in any way that you can – we would love to hear from you.”
